Celebrating good design in our area

WE are delighted to be able to announce the winners of the first SPAE Good Design Award.

On Thursday 25th May 2017 at the SPAE Annual General Meeting held at Ascot Racecourse the Chairman of the Judging Panel, Robert Adam of Adam Architecture, gave an overview of the nominations for the Award and announced the winners.

Sharing the top Award are:

Englemere - a flatted development designed by Greg Maier and Ascot Design, and built by Millgate Homes in Ascot;

Windsor Grey Place - a development of eight detached houses built by Shanly also in Ascot

Highly Commended certificates were presented to:

9 Prince Consort Drive – a detached house in Ascot designed by Pete Tonks for the developer Michael Shattock

Morley Court – a development of seven houses and four flats in Sunningdale designed by John Bloomfield of Bloomfield Parker for Windsor and District Housing Association

We are extremely grateful to our panel of judges – Robert Adam of Adam Architecture, Ben Bolgar of the Prince’s Foundation for Building Community, Owen Francis of  Francis Associates,  and Bonnie Chu, of BONS Architects Ltd.

It has been hard work - but also a great deal of fun getting this new initiative going and we hope that it will grow from strength to strength and attract more entries in the future. Given the current proposals for new building in the SL5 area we cannot help but feel that this is absolutely the right time for SPAE to be playing a part in establishing and recognising the highest standards for good design. We are already looking forward to 2018.
